Emergency Rental Assistance Application

The City of Monterey is offering Emergency Rental Assistance to households struggling with the current economic challenges as a result of COVID-19. If you meet the pre-qualifications listed below, click the button to complete your application:

To prequalfy, you must meet the following criteria:
  • You must live or work in the City of Monterey
  • You must be experiencing a loss of income due to COVID-19
  • You must be able to provide a lease agreement or letter confirming tenancy from your landlord
  • You must have been current on rent payments prior to COVID-19 (April 1, 2020)
  • You must make less than 80% of Area Median Income.

Unfortunately, as of February 11, 2021 the City of Monterey has suspended its Emergency Rental Assistance Program due to lack of additional funding. If additional funding becomes available, we may re-open the application. Please check back on the City of Monterey website for further information.
